Key dates and deadlines

Michaelmas Term 2026

• 7 October:
  11am: Introductory meeting
• 21 October:
  Submit form with choice of primary source
• 26 October:
  Submit form with provisional dissertation topic and supervisor
• 27 November:
  Submit form with confirmed dissertation title by 10.30am

Lent Term 2027

• 1 February:
  Submit primary source essay before 12noon
• 9 February:
  Primary source presentations start
• 18 February:
  Last date for changing dissertation title and/or supervisor
• 19 March:
  Deadline for applications to continue to Part III

Easter Term 2027

• 6 May:
  Submit dissertation before 12noon
• 10 May:
  Revision seminars start
• TBC:
  Exams start

Extension of submission dates for assessed work

All requests for an extension to the submission date for coursework must have a good reason and must be supported by a College Tutor and/or Director of Studies, otherwise a zero mark will be awarded.

For an extension of up to seven days the student should complete the coursework extension self-certification form.

For an extension longer than seven days the College Tutor/DoS must make a case to the Examination Access and Mitigation Committee.

Where an extension is granted, the deadline is 12noon on the new date.
