Supervising PhD students

As part of the requirements set by funding bodies, all supervisors are expected to undertake training on the expectations, roles and responsibilities of graduate supervisors.

If you have not supervised before you should follow one of the training courses run by the University's Personal and Professional Development section.

PhD supervisors are required to submit termly reports on the Cambridge Graduate Supervision Reporting System, available through CamSIS.

At the end of the year, supervisors hold an annual review with each of the students they are supervising. In the student's first year this review is part of the PhD registration exercise.
