Research areas: History and philosophy of economics, political philosophy, philosophy of measurement and quantification

I am a PhD student at HPS Cambridge, with research interests at the intersection of history and philosophy of economics, political philosophy, and philosophy of measurement. My doctoral project examines the development of economic models of discrimination over the twentieth century in the United States, and their interaction with legal and political approaches to addressing inequality. I am particularly interested in how economic theories and methods have shaped what kinds of inequalities are considered “fair” or “unfair,” and how this influence fits within broader twentieth century discourse about justice and fairness. More broadly, I am interested in methodological problems concerning causal and statistical measurement of discrimination, in the relationship between law and economics, and in the role of quantification in mediating between them.
