DCMS/Wolfson grant for a new Globes Gallery

The Whipple Museum is delighted to announce the award of £20,000 for our Globe Gallery Project. This will allow us to re-imagine and improve the current exhibition, in particular with the purchase of new cases. Often light-sensitive, globes are challenging to display, not least because it is desirable, but difficult, to see the entire surface of the globe. These cases will allow visitors a complete 360° view of our oustanding collection of globes, planetaria and other related objects.

Main Gallery Refurbishment

On January 18th the Whipple Museum reopened to the public after a period of refurbishment

This refurbishment was necessary in order to replace the wall cases in the Main Gallery, and bring it up to contemporary security and environmental standards. It also represented a unique opportunity to refresh and strengthen the displays in the gallery. We are currently in the process of installing objects, and the new displays are not quite complete. Please keep visiting us to see how we progress.

The refurbishment was made possible by a grant from DCMS/Wolfson.
