Globes exhibition

A case in the Whipple globe exhibition
The Whipple's globe exhibition.

New for Winter 2009/10, an exhibition of globes from the Whipple Museum's collection.

From antiquity to the present day, people have created globes to model the world around them. The exhibition presents globes designed for a range of different purposes, from educational tools to fine furniture, and for a variety of audiences, including as children's educational toys, sailors' navigation aids and status symbols for gentlemen.

As well as many globes of the Earth, the exhibition also contains globes of the heavens, the Moon, and Mars, with examples dating from the seventeenth to the twentieth centuries. Do not miss this rare opportunity to see over forty globes from the collection displayed together.

The exhibition will run until summer 2010. Free admission for all.
