The Whipple Museum of the History of Science is a world-renowned collection of scientific instruments, apparatus and models dating from the Middle Ages to the present day.

As well as being open to the public, the Whipple Museum has a central role in the Department's teaching and research. Students are encouraged to acquire hands-on experience of studying and working with the collection.

  • Take part in object demonstration classes at Part II.
  • Look out for displays that complement particular lecture courses.
  • Undertake in-depth work with objects for a Part II, Part III or MPhil essay or dissertation.
  • Produce a case study for display in the Museum's Main Gallery.
