The 2002 Fungus Hunt, organised by the Cabinet of Natural History, took place on 28 October.

As always, Nick Jardine was on hand to distinguish between the tasty and the lethal. Our keen fungus hunters managed to find 30 species – fewer than in previous years due to recent dry weather – but including some very interesting discoveries. The star find was the rare and edible Leccinum carpini, spotted by Banger (Tamara Hug's dog).
