Acta Sanctorum
This is an electronic version of the complete printed text of Acta Sanctorum, from the edition published in sixty-eight volumes by the Société des Bollandistes in Antwerp and Brussels. It is a collection of documents examining the lives of saints, organised according to each saint's feast day, and runs from the two January volumes published in 1643 to the Propylaeum to December published in 1940.

American National Biography
ANB Online is an exploration of American history through the lives of the men and women who shaped the nation. It offers portraits of more than 17,400 men and women whose lives have shaped the nation. Published by OUP, it is the first biographical resource of this scope to be published in more than sixty years. It is updated quarterly, with hundreds of new entries and revisions each year. It also features thousands of illustrations, more than 80,000 hyperlinked cross-references and links to select web sites.

ARTstor
This online resource contains more than one million digital images relating to the arts, architecture, humanities and sciences. The collections comprise contributions from outstanding international museums, photographers, libraries, scholars, photo archives, and artists and artists' estates. It covers subjects such as Anthropology, Classical Studies, History of Medicine and Natural Science, Maps and Geography, and Medieval Studies.

British Library Archival Sound Recordings
Included is a section called Oral history of British science, which includes in-depth interviews documenting the lives and careers of scientists, engineers, technologists and their teams at the centre of Britain's scientific endeavour in the twentieth century.

British Periodicals
Digitised runs of periodicals dating from the 17th to 20th century. On completion it will comprise around 460 periodical runs covering philosophy, history, science, social sciences, arts etc.

British Printed Images to 1700
Digital library of prints and book illustrations from early modern Britain based on the collections of the Department of Prints and Drawings at the British Museum, together with items from other collections, notably the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Cambridge Histories Online
Access to over 250 volumes published by CUP since 1960, equating to around 196,000 pages of unrivalled scholarship, covering over 15 different academic subjects. New content is added as it is published. Off campus access available via Raven.

Enables Google-style searching of over 300 key resources simultaneously, including Philosopher's Index, Web of Science, Science Direct, major ejournal providers Eighteenth Century Collections Online and Early English Books Online. In the advanced CrossSearch interface, multiple subject areas or specific resources can be searched at once. CrossSearch is available direct to current students and staff within the Cambridge domain. Online access to over 500,000 pages of previously classified government documents. Covering major international events from the Cold War to the Vietnam War and beyond, this single source enables users to locate key information underpinning studies in international relations, American studies, United States foreign and domestic policy studies, journalism and more. Dictionary of Medical Biography
Authoritative biographical coverage of major medical practitioners in all times and cultures. Whilst its main emphasis is on the Western medical tradition, it also covers practitioners of alternative medicines as well as major figures within Chinese, Indian and Islamic medicine. We also have hardcopy in the Whipple Library. Off campus access available via Raven.

Dictionary of Scientific Biography
This comprehensive ebook includes the complete text of the 18-volume original Dictionary of Scientific Biography, to form the online equivalent of a 26-volume reference source containing biographies of mathematicians and natural scientists from all countries and from all historical periods. Available both on and off campus (requires Raven password off-campus).

Early English Books Online (EEBO)
Contains digital facsimile page images of virtually every work printed in England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and British North America and works in English printed elsewhere from 1473-1700 – from the first book printed in English by William Caxton, through the age of Shakespeare and the English Civil War. The database offers the ability to search citations (and in some cases full text), to view page images of the full text and illustrations, and to download the text in ASCII and PDF formats.

Early European Books Online
Complements Early English Books Online to provide researchers and students with access to all works printed in Europe before 1701 and held in participating libraries, regardless of language, together with all pre-1701 works in European languages printed further afield. Early European Books Online contains full-colour, high-resolution (400 ppi) facsimile images scanned directly from the original printed sources, including binding, edges, endpapers, blank pages and any loose inserts. Available throughout the University and off campus.

Eighteenth Century British Official Parliamentary Publications Online
It includes the full text of the Journals of the House of Commons and Lords, Private Bills and Acts, Parliamentary Register and the House of Commons and Lords Sessional Papers. Along with the printed texts, diagrams and tables are available as greyscale images; colour maps and images are available in full colour. The digital texts have been made searchable using optical character recognition processes, so the entire contents of the collections can be searched by word or phrase. Freely available to the UK higher education community.

Eighteenth Century Collections Online (ECCO)
Provides online access to English-language titles and editions published between 1701 and 1800. This is an ongoing project based on The English Short Title Catalogue (ESTC), a machine-readable union list of the holdings of the British Library, as well as those from more than 1,500 university, private, and public libraries worldwide. Over the course of the next two years nearly 150,000 English-language titles and editions will be made available online and allowing full-text searching of every significant English-language and foreign-language title printed in the United Kingdom, along with thousands of important works from the Americas.

Empire Online
Full-text database relating to colonial history, politics, culture and society. Includes thousands of images of unique source material including maps, manuscripts, pamphlets, paintings, drawings and rare books. Accessible from cam domain without passwords and off-campus via Raven password.

Encyclopaedia of Islam
Contains articles on the Islamic World from religion and history to politics and culture. It includes articles on distinguished Muslims of every age and land, on tribes and dynasties, on the sciences, on political and religious institutions and on the geography and history of the major towns and cities. Its geographical and historical scope encompasses the old Arabo-Islamic empire, the Islamic countries of Iran, Central Asia, the Indian sub-continent and Indonesia, the Ottoman Empire and all modern Islamic states.

Encyclopédie Diderot
Internet version of the first edition of l'Encyclopédie, ou Dictionnaire Raisonné des Sciences, des Arts et des Métiers de Diderot et d'Alembert. The work was first published between 1751 and 1772 and consisted of 17 volumes of text with 11 volumes of plates. Containing 72,000 articles written by more than 140 contributors, the Encyclopédie constitutes both an extensive reference work for the arts and sciences and a primary source central to 18th-century studies.

English Short Title Catalogue (ESTC)
The English Short Title Catalogue describes works printed in any language in England or its dependencies between 1473 and 1800, as well as works printed in English anywhere else in the world during that period. Previously known as the Eighteenth-century Short Title Catalogue, ESTC was enhanced and renamed in 1994, with the addition of nearly 75,000 records for works published before 1701. It includes classmarks for microfilm collections, and is updated daily.

House of Commons Parliamentary Papers, 19th century
HCPP provides access to the full text of papers for the entire 19th century, which can be searched by Keyword, Paper Title, Subject, Chair, Session, Paper No. and Year. A personal archive can be created within the resource for ease of reference. Access without passwords is available within the University of Cambridge domain; off-campus access not yet available.

Illustrated London News Historical Archive
The Illustrated London News was the world's first fully illustrated weekly newspaper. Established in 1842, it marked a revolution in journalism and news reporting, presenting a vivid picture of British and world events including news of war, disaster, ceremonies, the arts and science. The online archive spans more than 160 years (1842–2003) and includes high-quality colour facsimile images. Accessible on and off-campus using Raven password.

International Dictionary of Psychoanalysis
The most extensive reference work published on this topic representing all branches of the field, major individuals, works, events and institutions that have impacted the history of the psychoanalytical movement. Articles include discussion of 900 concepts and notions, 360 biographies of the major psychoanalysts worldwide and 170 articles on their major works. Access is available on campus and off campus with Raven ID.

International Encyclopedia of the Social and Behavioral Sciences
This constitutes the first attempt in a generation to map the social and behavioural sciences on a grand scale. Covering both 'social' and 'behavioural' sciences in a manner not previously combined in a work of such size, IESBS contains around 4,000 signed articles, 150 biographical entries and an extensive hierarchical subject index of over 122,400 entries.

Iter Bibliography
Includes literature pertaining to the Middle Ages and Renaissance (400-1700). Citations for books, journal material (articles, reviews, review articles, bibliographies, catalogues, abstracts and discographies) are included, as are citations for dissertation abstracts, and essays in books (including entries in conference proceedings, festschriften, encyclopedias and exhibition catalogues). Iter Italicum
The most comprehensive finding list available of previously uncatalogued or incompletely catalogued Renaissance humanistic manuscripts found in libraries and collections all over the world. Originally published in six volumes between 1963 and 1992, it is an essential tool for any scholar working in the fields of classical, medieval and Renaissance studies. Medical Journals Backfile Project
Ongoing project to provide free online access to back issues covering nearly 200 years of historically significant biomedical journals. On completion, the back files project will deliver over three million pages of medical journals free to anyone through standard search tools such as PubMed and Google.

Middle English Compendium
Designed to offer easy access to and interconnectivity between three major Middle English electronic resources: an electronic version of the Middle English Dictionary, a Hyper Bibliography of Middle English prose and verse, based on the MED bibliographies, and an associated network of electronic resources, including a large collection of Middle English texts.

The National Archives DocumentsOnline service
DocumentsOnline provides access to The National Archives' collection of digitised public records, including both academic and family history sources. This vast collection has application to a wide range of subject areas, in particular Social History, Sociology and the Law, International Relations/Politics, Politics particularly political history, Conflict Studies, Legal History, History, Military History and Art History and Architecture. Includes historical maps, diagrams, photographs and films. Please note the copyright conditions. Users must sign in using Raven to download documents free of charge.

Nineteenth Century UK Periodicals
New multi-part series which covers the events, lives, values and themes that shaped the 19th century world. Series I on New Readerships provides full-text access to nearly 100 periodicals for the study of British life in the 19th century. It is mainly based on the repositories of the British Library and the National Library of Scotland. When complete it will make available full runs of nearly 600 titles. Oxford Dictionary of National Biography
Online fulltext access to an illustrated collection of more than 50,000 specially written biographies of the men and women from around the world who shaped all aspects of Britain's past. The Oxford DNB replaces and extends the original Victorian DNB. Biographies of the people contained in the Victorian DNB are rewritten, reflecting new research, and an up-to-date assessment of their lives. Entries offer detailed and extensive biographical information drawn from primary and secondary sources. Includes more than 10,000 illustrations.

Oxford Reference Online
Over one million dictionary definitions from the Oxford University Press collection of English and bilingual dictionaries and reference works covering more than 20 subject areas including Philosophy, History, Arts, Sciences etc.

Patrologia Latina
An electronic version of the first edition of Jacques-Paul Migne's Patrologia Latina, published between 1844 and 1855, including the four volumes of indexes published between 1862 and 1865. The Patrologia Latina comprises the works of the Church Fathers from Tertullian in 200 AD to the death of Pope Innocent III in 1216. In addition to the complete Patrologia Latina, the database contains all prefatory material, original texts, critical apparatus and indexes. Migne's column numbers, essential references for scholars, are included.

PhilSci Archive
A free electronic archive for preprints in the philosophy of science, sponsored by the Philosophy of Science Association, the Center for Philosophy of Science (University of Pittsburgh) and the University Library System (University of Pittsburgh). Its goal is to promote communication in the field by the rapid dissemination of new work. Philosophers of science are invited to post their work.

Psychoanalytic Electronic Publishing Archive
Includes online access to the full text of the Standard Edition of the Complete Psychological Works of Sigmund Freud, Freud letters, works by Wilfred Bion, Melanie Klein and Donald Winnicott along with other major psychoanalytic authors as well as eighteen premier English-language journals in psychoanalysis up to 2003 or the final issue of the journal, whichever is the earlier. Content is cross-searchable and browsable by title, volume/issue, and author (books only). Access is available without passwords within 'cam.ac.uk'.

PsycINFO and PsycARTICLES
PsycINFO is an abstract database of psychological literature from the 1800s to the present covering books, dissertations and over 2000 peer reviewed journals. Contains bibliographic citations, abstracts, cited references, and descriptive information. PsycARTICLES is a full-text journal article database accessing articles from journals published by the American Psychological Association, the APA Educational Publishing Foundation, the Canadian Psychological Association, and Hogrefe Publishing Group. Routledge Encyclopedia of Philosophy

The SAO/NASA Astrophysics Data System (ADS)
Digital Library portal for researchers in astronomy and physics, operated by the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory (SAO). Full-text scans of astronomical literature and links to electronic articles, data catalogues and archives.

SCIPIO: Art and Rare Book Sales Catalogs (SCI) via EUREKA
SCIPIO consists of records for auction sales catalogs from all major North American and European auction houses as well as important private sales, from 1599 to the present. It provides bibliographic access to valuable sources of information on the provenance of art objects and rare books, the history of collecting, and contemporary and historical market trends. SCIPIO describes art and rare book auction sales catalogues dating from the late sixteenth century to currently scheduled auctions that have not yet been held. Records contain information on dates and places of sale, catalogue title, the auction house, sellers, institutional holdings, and other information. It is updated daily.

Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy
One of the most significant open access Philosophy publications on the World Wide Web serving millions of pages annually to readers worldwide. This Encyclopaedia is written by experts in the field, and subject to a rigorous process of academic peer review.
