About the Department

Becoming an Affiliated Research Scholar

Those wishing to be considered for the title of Affiliated Research Scholar in the Department should submit an application to the Head of Department, for circulation at the next Executive Committee, including the following information:

1. a statement describing what they might bring to the Department, or what they could contribute;
2. an up-to-date CV;
3. an outline of the research they propose to conduct over the three-year period of their appointment;
4. a letter in support of their application from their current/old department, or a peer;
5. the name of someone in the Department who would be willing to be their sponsor.

The Department reserves the right to waive any or all of these requirements in any cases it sees fit. In cases where the Department decides not to make someone an Affiliated Research Scholar, they may decide to make the person a 'Regular Visitor' or 'Friend of the Department' instead.
